Weapons Purchase Requiring Mental Evaluation and Background Check

Created by D.K. on June 17, 2016

A mental health evaluation is to be conducted for purchase of any magazine or clip loaded weapon. A person may still pass a vigorous background check and still be a serious threat. Many positions in our military and government require such a check for mid to high-level security clearances and these have proven to greatly mitigate precipitating factors and personality red flags that would not elongate the mandatory minimum (though it should be increased in duration to what it is currently) waiting period and would cover anyone who has not done something to get them on a watch list. I respect our Nation's Second Amendment right, but having an in-depth background check is merely a necessary inconvenience, not a trampling of those rights. Thank you.
