Wear purple clothing/accessory each day in October to raise awareness of domestic violence.

Created by J.S. on September 10, 2015

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. If the administration could wear or accessorize with purple each day in October, it could help raise awareness of this issue.

Domestic violence is a micro war that can affect the macro-community. People often feel that they cannot interfere with domestic relations, but domestic violence breeds shame and silence, so victims have trouble speaking up for and helping themselves. No one is immune to domestic violence. It crosses all genders, races, ages, creeds, and classes.

October is also the month of Breast Cancer Awareness. Although domestic violence isn't just a "women's issue" (nor is breast cancer), we can aid in the fight for women's health by making sure that women have safe homes.
