There are plenty of things you can do to stop gun violence and taking them away from law abiding owners is not one of them. Less that 2% of gun murders are done in "mass" shootings. Why is that people only seem to care when it's a "mass" shooting? Nearly all happen in gang related shootings. We don't have a gun problem, we have a gang problem. If you want to make the high murder rate go down then it's simple. You can outlaw participation or being a member of a criminal gang and register any that are and treat them as felons. You can support your police force for once as well and aid them in ceasing the gang killings. Ban gun free zones. Encourage concealed carry. I can't list all my ideas because lack of space. Most don't have the luxury of being surrounded by armed guards 24/7.
