The White House needs to stop fighting to keep provisions that allow for the indefinite detainment of Americans.
President Obama signed the 2012 NDAA "with serious reservations", but no sign of those reservations remain.
"I want to clarify that my administration will not authorize the indefinite military detention without trial of American citizens. Indeed, I believe that doing so would break with our most important traditions and values as a nation.", stated President Obama.
If there is truly no plan to utilize these provisions, then there is no reason to fight to retain them. It wastes taxpayer money and is diminishing trust in both the President and our government in general.
