White House to stop making false statements

Created by J.J. on January 17, 2013

The White House continues to describe the Debt Ceiling as as "paying bills already racked up by congress" and "not raising the debt ceiling is equivalent to eating at a restaurant and not paying the bill".
These statements are false and misleading and the Whitehouse should refrain from making these false statements.
Allowing treasury to borrow additional funds and increasing the national debt is required to make payments on future spending. Not raise the debt ceiling means those future spending will not be incurred and the national debt will not be increased.
