Withhold pay for Congress, both the Senate and House of Representatives, Democrat and Republican, until they are able to agree on and pass a bill that would do the following:
- Only raise taxes on high earners (over $400,000).
- Make considerable cuts to government programs.
- Make sure that by raising these taxes and cutting funding from these programs, the federal debt will decrease over the next 10 years.
It seems this Congress is only able to act when they are under extreme pressure or down to the last second of a deadline. The American people want them to act NOW on these issues before they push the country into another recession.
Congress should not receive any form of a paycheck until a bill dealing all these issues NOW (not putting it off to later) is passed.
