Within reason, (drug screening/alcohol screening, psychological evaluation, etc..), lower the age of handgun ownership

I'm under 21, an avid hunter, and I hope to be a gunsmith. The current regulation regarding handgun ownership makes this nigh impossible which leaves me very little recourse, as well as many others I know in this in this age group who while attending college or working late night jobs have very few ways to defend themselves.
