Work with the 113th United States Congress to pass a constitutional amendment abolishing the Electoral College

Created by J.G. on November 13, 2012

The Electoral College is a ridiculously unconstitutional institution that should not be used to elect the President of the United States. It is a relic of the days when United States Senators were indirectly elected in a similar manner by state legislatures, and it should not be used to determine the winner of the national presidential election. Rather, the winner of the popular vote should be declared the winner of the presidential election- it is only fair and democratic that the candidate receiving the greatest number of votes is the candidate elected to office. The President of the United States should be elected by American citizens, not a small group of electors.
