Begin working with representatives from the ACLU, and the national councils of the larger Churches in the United States to move towards removing government sponsorship and definition of Marriage. Allow those institutions their own definitions of marriage, recognized by the US Government solely as a "Secular or Non-Secular Domestic Partnership for Legal and Taxation Purposes".
Leave the definition and classification of what a marriage is to the Churches, Synogogues, Masjid's, Mosques, Temples and Ministries.
This will end the argument about Gay or polygamous marriage, divorce rights, and state definitions of what defines marital rights. It will save the US Government tens of millions of dollars per year in lawsuits and press releases. It will eliminate thousands of man hours.
