While there are similar petitions that would try to reclassify broadband providers as common carriers, I do not believe the infrastructure is in place to allow this.
However, it is also double dipping for carriers to try to charge the content providers and the subscribers for fees to access the so called "fast lanes" of the internet.
Fees that will ultimately reach the consumer because the content providers will have to raise their prices to pay for these "fast lanes".
Additionally, these internet "fast lanes" would also restrict innovation and smaller start-ups. Companies like Apple, Facebook, and Twitter all started small and grew in the world of neutral internet.
A non-neutral internet will do nothing more than stifle the economy and make content on the internet less accessible.
