The United States Postal Service (USPS) is a legacy service that is in serious financial trouble as a result of skyrocketing operating costs paired with the advent of the Internet, related communications technologies and private business that have resulted in drastically decreased demand for the services the USPS provides.
Furthermore, we are concerned by the wastefulness and negative environmental impact of the "junk" mail that has become the staple of USPS, as well as the inefficiencies of the service and its rising operating costs at the expense of the public.
The USPS has served its purpose and is approaching obsolescence. Please work to a solution that will allow the USPS to be swiftly retired while being recognized for its long contribution to the development of our great nation.
