Throughout the last few years it has become apparent that Congress is ignoring the will of the people. Commonsense legislation to prevent mass shootings like that in Newtown, CT faces an uphill battle due to the power of the NRA. Pharmaceutical companies prevent laws to bring down the cost of their products. The defense industry has lobbied for congress to force the DoD to buy M1 Abrams tanks that it neither needs nor wants.
It has become clear that our representatives answer to big business and not the American people. We urge the President as well as Congress to pass legislation that will eliminate lobbyist organizations or at reduce their influence so that we can have a government that is of the people, by the people, for the people.
