Over time school shootings and mass murders in America have created a media sensationalism driven by fear rather than reporting news. School shooters, especially those who have shown to commit suicide at the scene should never be shown in photos unless a national interest is at stake. There is nothing good that comes from naming and plastering photographs of a murderer after they commit suicide.
Our 1st Amendment guarantees Freedom of the Press and no doubt any issue like this will be challenged by the media, but courts have shown to allow restriction "to promote a compelling interest"
Let's stop allowing media companies to profit from giving school shooters and other murderers a name and a face.
This is just one step in furthering our national interest towards a safer country.
