Work with Congress to repeal the Patriot Act.

Created by K.O. on July 12, 2013

The Patriot Act was signed into law in response to the September 11 attacks on the US. At the time, when people raised concerns about the potential affect on privacy, we were assured that this law was necessary to "keep us safe" from terrorists and further, that if we weren't "terrorists," our privacy was assured.

We recently learned from Edward Snowden that under the provisions of this law, Congress spends billions of tax dollars to spy on US Citizens. All of our communications are now monitored, including email to social media to cell and telephone communications and even postal mail (to and from are reportedly recorded).

The purpose of this petition is to ask the White House to stop this clear violation of rights promised under the first and fourth constitutional amendments.
