Work with Congress to Repeal the Selective Service Act

Created by E.C. on June 28, 2014

The Selective Service Act requires all male citizens to register for the draft. If they do not, they can be charged $250,000 and potentially face a jail sentence.
In 2007 a Gallup pull found that only 17% of Americans support the draft. This rate has remained below 30% for the past decade.
The military seems to agree with this opinion. When former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates was asked if he was in favor of expanding the military's size by reinstating the draft, he stated
"If you talk to the senior military leadership, they would give you an adamant no to that question." Clearly, volunteers are more loyal & better service people than men who have been forced to fight. Talk to Congress & repeal the Selective Service Act. If the draft is needed, it can be reinstated.
