Slavery is a terrible thing, and although all countries in the world have banned it, there are still 27 million slaves in the world (aheartforjustice.com). We believe that the United States should take a leadership role in stopping global slavery because all people, regardless of where you live, deserve a chance to live and be free. We believe the United States can help stop slavery by providing leadership and resources in three important ways. These include: working with the Ugandan government to stop children from being abducted to be child soldiers by the Lord’s Resistance Army, by passing laws in the United States to benefit businesses that ensure all the workers in their supply chain are paid fairly, and making sure all agricultural workers in the United States are paid a living wage.
