Work with the European Union to create trade sanctions against Russia if the anti-gay propaganda law is not removed

Created by E.K. on April 29, 2015

In 2013, an anti-gay propaganda law was passed in Russia, making any gay-propaganda illegal if it influences the decisions of minors. Ever since this law was passed, violence and attacks aimed towards LGBT individuals in Russia have increased. This violates four articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Article one (everyone is born free and equal), article two, (freedom from discrimination), article sixteen (right to marriage and family), and article twenty (right to peaceful assembly and association). As a proposed solution to this issue, this petition will try to urge president Obama to work with the European Union to create trade sanctions against Russia if if the anti-propaganda law is not removed. Help us protect the rights of LGBT individuals in Russia.
