Work smarter to combat human trafficking in the US and throughout the world.

US citizens are more apt to become domestic victims of human trafficking than are foreign nationals, with domestic youth being the most vulnerable to the crime (Kotrla, 2010). More than 100,000 US children are trafficked within the United States, with traffickers benefitting financially from the illegal exploitation of minors through coercion, sale, and intimidation of children (Kotrla, 2010). The Slave Next Door (2010) reports that worldwide, the country profiting most from the criminal enterprise is the US (Bales & Soodalter, 2010). In fact, the criminal enterprise is often fronted by legitimate businesses (Bales & Soodalter, 2010). We demand that you increase the federal funding for domestically trafficked victims and provide monetary assistance to programs working to combat the issue.
