Teachers need to be protected, and unions are useful for that purpose- but unrealistic powers and authorities within the bureaucracy of unions such as the teachers union leave the education of our youth at an unfair disadvantage.
Teachers should earn tenure, and it should not be as irrevocable as it currently is.
Also, our education system needs an overhaul, and every hope and step taken towards this goal is entirely impeded by the size and reach of the existing union.
