Have you ever been entering the beltway and thought to yourself "why does it say '495 West' when the highway is clearly going south", or some other combination of directions?
While clearly not the most pressing issue of the day, this petition asks the Obama administration to work with the Department of Transportation and local governments to shift toward signage and relevant materials pertaining to the 495 beltway that refers to the directions as "clockwise" and "counter-clockwise".
Furthermore, this is NOT just about the DC area--this would set a forward-thinking precedent and one that applies to beltways around the country. In fact, this could be part of a larger lobbying approach toward the DOT.
Do you agree that we could use a little more intuitive infrastructure in the US?
