America has long been founded upon the basic ideals of equality and democracy. However both of these have been ignored when considering the youth of our nation. People under the age of 18 are taxed based upon their incomes without any say over how the government spends it. Also, those under the age of 18 can still be tried as adults. Young adults between the age of 16 and 18 are given more responsibilities by our society, but are not given the right to vote. Important issues to our youth are often ignored such as education. In order to end this taxation without representation and thetreatment of a large group of people as second class citizens, the voting age should be lowered to 16.
