In order to achieve an outcome that will, in good faith, take into consideration the Constitutional right to keep and bear arms and the right of the people to be secure in their persons and houses, I propose a compromise that institutes universal background checks while also removing erroneous oversight to cosmetic and functional modifications an individual might make.
The law should institute universal background checks and balance it with the following:
1. National conceal carry reciprocity.
2. A reassertion that state police not retain records or make lists of gun owners from gun purchases.
3. The removal of short barrel rifles / shotguns and suppressors from NFA / BATFE purview making the transfer like buying a handgun.
