This Petition calls on the Obama Administration to work with Progressive Members in Congress to introduce a non-profit public health insurance plan for all Americans and or small businesses. The Affordable Health Care Act provided too much to for-profit health insurance companies and HMO-providers. We need an affordable non-profit option where people and businesses can purchase health insurance at cost instead of being forced to purchase high-premium and high-deductible plans from private insurers that use health dollars for executive bonuses, marketing and administration. American health care is the most expensive in the world and most of that cost can be correlated with health insurance. We are one of a small handful of Western Countries which doesn't offer a public non-profit option.
