Our valued scientific progress and knowledge is left hanging to be potentially impeded on by lawmakers. Specifically the leadership of congressional sub-committees that have an enormous effect on the scientific community and progress within our nation. For too long has congress allowed these men and women with far reaching authority take to these leadership positions without the slightest amount of knowledge involving the scientific method and the community. This petition asks for this administration work towards implementing common sense guidelines to the selection of these committee leaders and work towards providing a minimum level of scientific understanding for these lawmakers to have prior to selection for leadership so that our hard earned scientific progress isn't halted.
