The governor and legislature of the state of Michigan today passed a series of laws that strike at the heart of the ability of workers to organize and bargain collectively for fair wages and benefits. So-called "Right to Work" bills run counter to the American ideals of fairness for all and upward mobility for those who work hard. Today's action in the Michigan capitol are part of a series taken over the years in states across the country to restrict the ability of people to earn higher wages and improved benefits in an era of record profits.
I emplore the administration to send to Congress for its consideration a repeal of Section 14(b) of the Taft-Hartley Act, which would restore the ability of unions to work better working conditions for all people. Thank you for your consideration.
