We believe that for far too long, candidates seeking political office required a huge amount of money in order to be electable. But, in creating a climate where the only way to get elected is to out-spend your opponent, it becomes necessary to accept money from special interest groups (SIG's). Such money from SIGs are not always in the public interest; yet it creates a candidate who's electability is indebted to that very SIG.
THEREFORE, we the undersigned to ask that this administration take upon itself, before the current term of office is up, to embark upon meaningful campaign finance reform to restrict and limit the amount of money that can be spent seeking office, to establish a public fund for campaigns, and that all donations to a candidate are made public and open for inspection.
