United States v. Windsor has struck down the Defense of Marriage act which defines marriage as being only between a man and a woman.
However, the Obama administration must now go further in making explicit that state bans on marriage equality are unconstitutional and should urge the passage of legislation to end the unfairness of denying any couple the right to marry.
