In court, there is only one real defense for women given they harm or kill their attacker, and that is that they plea physical self defense. But in many cases women who suffer from prolonged abuse develop a syndrome known as Battered Women's Syndrome. Battered Women's Syndrome, known as BWS is a recognized medical condition and is a form of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. We propose that women be allowed to plea "psychological self defense" in the case of sever prolonged abuse.
We would like laws to be specific in who can plea BWS, such as they must have strong evidence of prolonged abuse and previous psychological evaluations. Domestic violence has long been a skeleton in our nations closet. Its time for victims to no longer silent.
