The second amendment to bare arms should be reformed. Many lives have needlessly been extinguished because of a citizens right to bare arms. Most developed countries prohibit the sale of firearms and with good reason.
To bare arms for the sake of protection is incomprehensible, since we have law enforcement. Also, that amendment is outdated and not relevant to life today. During most of our nations history, there wasn't an all encompassing and functional police force, which is why owning a firearm was encouraged.
I acknowledge gun prohibition is contentious and divisive. Alcohol prohibition was a sheer failure in the twenties and early thirties. That's why I propose the sale of firearms for the sole purpose of hunting because it may be a source of a persons livelihood.
