I am working on an advocacy course project. We are working on CC of Internet videos. I gave the survey to deaf people. The result is that most deaf people think that YouTube needs to improve on captioning. And most deaf people think that websites which do not provide CC should be sued. Yes, there is some captioning on YouTube but it is still not enough. Plus, there are captioning errors on YouTube.
YouTube is extremely popular and I am sure that most deaf people are using it. But the problem is that most hearing people are not knowledgeable about deaf culture. We need to spread the word that YouTube should provide quality captioning.
ADA Requirements
Title IV: Telecommunications: ADA also requires that television must be funded by the federal government to provide captions.
