Response to Petition

A Response to Your Petition About Victims of Abuse in South Korea

While we have forwarded this petition to the State Department and appropriate law enforcement agencies, we decline to address the specific allegations it raises. The We the People platform is not used to adjudicate specific legal cases.

Check out the full Terms of Participation here to get a better sense of why We the People is designed the way it is, and to learn more about its guidelines for use.

We encourage you to use the We the People platform to petition the Administration to take action on the policy issues you care about. If a petition gets enough support, White House staff will review it, ensure that it’s sent to the appropriate policy experts for their review, and issue an official response.

Addressing sexual assault remains an important issue for the Administration. As the President has said, it "is an affront to our basic decency and humanity, and it must end." That is why he helped launch the #ItsOnUs pledge -- a personal commitment every person can take to actively keep others safe from sexual assault.

You can learn more about the pledge and what you can do to stop sexual violence here: ItsOnUs.org.

Follow @WeThePeople on Twitter all day long for a series of Q+As with various Administration officials on the petition responses we released today.

Tell us what you think about this response and We the People.
